Class 4/27 Response

After researching a little about Emma O’Reilly, I saw that she was person that severely impacted by Lance Armstrong’s drug use. Especially being employed for the American Bicycle Team and working one-on-one with Armstrong, she experienced a different relationship with her clients. Although she enjoyed her job traveling and working with male athletes, her job was extraneous on her personal live as well. Being employed the American team, her was confidential between the riders and herself. She was asked by several riders including Armstrong to give enhancement drugs. She went trough extremes in order to get these drugs to her clients. Once she decided to tell the truth, Armstrong decided to sue and criticized her for being an alcoholic and a sleep about. Which in turn ended her marriage and another long term relationship. When Armstrong decided to admit to the truth, Emma felt like a huge weigh had been lifted and was able to build a relationship with Armstrong again. Relating this back to the reading “Judging Rhetoric”, the article that related to Emma O’Reilly was defending her predicament that she was in. It was unethical to help these riders get enhancement drugs, but it is hard to judge her decisions given that she is being employed by the people she has to support.
