Exploring San Francisco

Stow Lake towards the top of Golden Gate Park

Tuesday, September 12th, 2017

Today’s class was really fun because we got to explore a lot of Golden Gate Park via bicycles. It was great to see what all the craze is about and why the San Francisco Golden Gate Park is known worldwide. One of my favorite parts of the day was to get to, what seemed like, the top of the park, and visit Stow Lake. The lake was such a beautiful place to relax, catch our breath, and most importantly, get a snack from the snack shop. I hope to return to Stow Lake one day soon to try out the paddle boating!

Visiting the SF Bicycle Coalition was such a great experience and I genuinely enjoyed spending time at their headquarters. We got to meet Kelsey and Brian who both play such important roles within the organization. I got such good vibes from being at their headquarter offices because of how down to Earth everyone was and how passionate they were about bicycles and how they are a great form of transportation. I also really liked the snacks!! (Which included a plethora of vegan options! Bonus points!) Being able to come back later that evening and volunteer was also really fun for me because the volunteers were all passionate about their own ideals and showed it in their work ethics. For instance, passionate about the environment, bicycles, clean energy, education, etc. and they were also open to sharing and discussing alternative perspectives. I will definitely be volunteering with the SF Bicycle Coalition more often! A big thank you to Kelsey and Brian for having our class!
