I grew up in a home where my family stressed about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables with every meal. My mom grew up in a place where fresh fruits were abundant and so her family was all about eating and cooking healthy foods. Now my mom works at an organic farm where they sell organic fruits and fresh vegetables. Where I live there are no fast food restaurants and only a few expensive restaurants, so most of my family’s meals are homemade and my mom always has fruits and vegetables on the side. Whenever we go to a potluck or party, my family constantly brings a salad and bowls of fresh fruits. This is a norm in my family’s eating habits and in our area because of the geographical location. Most people have farms and gardens and grow their foods. Fruits and vegetables are easily accessible outside their homes and many people cook their own foods using the area’s resources.
