From my partner’s response, I think he has really good understanding about the essay we read. From the essay, he feels the people who study or work aboard, just like us. But in earlier time, the old immigrant had much worst time than us now. No rights, racist by others, and poor environment for them to live. I do feel the same feeling from the essay, things is always hard for people to go a different country from where they were born. The last part of the essay gives me really deep impression. The disappointment and despair from the content.
In my hometown, every mid autumn festival we have a special event called Bo Bing in my hometown Xiamen(Amoy). It is a family event for family reunion, but it can also do with friends. According to the story, the tradition was brought by a general in ancient China named Zheng Chenggong. When they are sailing and protect homeland during mid autumn festival, the general trying to let the solider have the feeling of the festival. He ask them to make few groups and gives each group a bowl and six dices. That is how the event born, and the legacy still exist today. Every autumn festival, the sound of dices is everywhere, every houses and streets.
