• I can rhetorically analyze an article or editorial piece that is talking about the current political climate in this country, and how this upcoming election is going to be critical for U.S history.
• Discuss how they use the three appeals: ethos, pathos, and logos. How style is articulated, tone of voice, etc.
• Analyze if the other is bias and if it is prevalent in the writing.
• Currently only 2 percent of voters in the U.S are undecided. Analyze if the article is trying to persuade voters to vote for one candidate or the other.
• Are Ad-hominem arguments used or does the author maintain the argument.

Outline

Introduction: talk about the generalized theme, or summarize the article.

BP1:  ethos: was the author credible. If so, do they use their position and expect us to believe them or do they have facts.

BP2: pathos: tone of voice and style of argumentation.

BP3: logos: discusses if personal narrative is used.

Conclusion: discuss if the author’s argument is persuasive or not; did they effectively use rhetoric to win their argument.
