Student Shout-Out: Jimena and Xantal in “Communication Teacher”

Today’s “Student Shout-Out” is a big one. Two of our Communication Studies majors are about to be published authors. Get in line for their autographs while you can!

Jimena Tejada and Xantal Tejada, senior Communication Studies majors, along with Professor Lawless, are publishing an article in a special issue of Communication Teacher on teaching about diversity. The article, “Where Can Your Passport Take You? Teaching Citizenship, Mobility, and Identity in the Classroom,” will be published in July 2016. The activity was created collaboratively for Lawless’ class International Conflict and Alliance Building in Fall 2015. The activity helps students to explore the difficulties of crossing national borders given individual identities related to nationality and citizenship.

And yes, in case you were wondering, Jimena and Xantal are related. They are cousins!

This is an impressive accomplishment! Only 10 out of 39 articles submitted were accepted for publication inĀ Communication Teacher. A big congratulations to Jimena, Xantal, and Professor Lawless!
