We’re excited to highlight Danny Lopez, a student in our Teacher Education Program! Here’s how he describes his journey and passion for education:
To me, teaching is a lot like playing soccer. You need awareness, collaboration, and heart. Whether on the field or in the classroom, you have to stay grounded and think ahead. Keep pushing forward even when the path isn’t clear. I bring that same energy and mindset into my work with students and fellow educators.
I want to show my students how what they’re learning can make a difference in their communities and their own lives. It’s about helping them see the bigger picture—teaching them that education isn’t just about facts, but about finding their voice and using it to create change so that when they need to speak up, they can say something without hesitation. The more I learn through the USF Teacher Education Program, the more I realize that teaching is about understanding the challenges students face and using that knowledge to provide an education that makes them feel understood and supported.
