Speech: hot dogs

To gather more information to create my final project, I watched a short video on a man giving a persuasive speech on hot dogs. He began by talking about what he would be persuading the audience on. He talks about the health risks and other factors that may grab people’s attention. Uses another source to tell why something is bad. He then quote sandwiches his quote. He maintains good eye contact with his audience but looks at his notecard sometimes. He then gives a solution on what to do. he gives many sources and then gives another summary of the benefits of stopping eating hot dogs.  Then he concludes by summarizing what he was saying and then ends with a closing line.

For my speech, I think I am going to talk about why people need to start exercising more. I plan on describing why exercise is important, then talking about the health risks of not exercising, then the solution to how to start exercising, then talk about why it is important again, conclude.

or

I could talk about why people need to start eating more vegetables. talk about the problem w not eatting them, health risk, a solution to start eatting them, why they are good for you, conclude.

For today’s reading response, I read Ruby’s. What I liked about her post was how much background information she gave about the story, and what was going on within it. Our posts were similar because we both gave a lot of background examples of what was going on. Our posts were different because Ruby’s more concise and straight to the point. Currently, that is something I am trying to work on in my own writing so viewing Ruby’s response provided me with an excellent example.

historical event:

Joe Biden becoming president-elect

A historical event that I have found to be remarkable is Joe Biden winning the 2020 presidential election. One reason for this is because of how many negative things were going on in the United States. Some examples may be racial injustice and how there is little containment on the well-known virus, COVID-19. Joe Biden becoming presidential elect is so significant because it signifies hope for our country. It shows that there may be hope for the racial injustice and containment of the coronavirus. The reason why I selected this event was because of how happy I have been for the past few weeks of this news. Joe Biden becoming president means that many people will have the chance to succeed.

One other reason why Joe Biden earning the title of president-elect is so remarkable is because of who his vice president will be. Kamala Harris will be Joe Biden’s vice president, which is remarkable because she is a multicultural woman. This also signifies hope for the future because the United States has never had a woman in office for vice president. I found this to be inspiring because it will continue to push girls all over the world to work hard and follow their dreams. Overall, Joe Biden becoming president-elect of the USA is a very positive historical event.

For today’s reading response, I read Ryan’s post. What I noticed about Ryan’s post was how he separated both readings that he read into separate paragraphs. This helped him to thoroughly explain how to convey a proper oral presentation. I found that Ryan’s post was similar to mine because we both separated our sources into individual paragraphs in order to better convey the message to our audiences. Although, I found that our posts were different because Ryan went a little more in-depth than I did. Something that I learned from reading Ryan’s post was how I could add more detail to my own writing while keeping it conscise.

Group: Jamye, Emily, Sabrina

For today’s reading response, I read Jamye’s post. I enjoyed reading her post because I was able to learn more about preparing an argument while keeping the multiethnic group in mind. Jamye did a great job connecting the context of the example to many people’s lives. At the end of her post, Jamye reflected on how she would like to use this type of presentation in her own writing. Overall, Jamye did a great job analyzing and connecting her post to her own life.
