In conjunction with the Thacher Gallery exhibition: Eric Gill: Iconographer, the Gleeson Library has digitized the wood engravings in the Eric Gill collection from the Donohue Rare Book Room and made it available online to USF community. Nearly 400 digitized images are included in the Printing and Graphic Arts Collection and available for view on the Gleeson Library Digital Collections website. The site offers tools to zoom in and out of the image to view minute details. You can search across the collections for specific items.
We’re actively expanding our digital collections, so check back often for new content!
This is incredible!! I’m so glad I will be able to reference the Gill collection after the exhibit is over. Great job!!
Are these images available only to the USF community? I can see only “restricted file” messages when I try to look at them from home.
Yes right now the whole collection is restricted to USF IP addresses, because some of the materials are post 1923 and still under copyright. I’ll try to see if I can restrict the access at item level, so those published before 1923 will be viewable to the general public.
Thanks for the update, Jessica.
If you do that Jessica, can you leave another note here please. Thanks.
I just checked and the Gill images are viewable now.
