Ignacio: USF Libraries Catalog has a new look! The redesigned catalog was made public last week on August 6 and features a modernized interface that more closely aligns with library and university websites. The catalog redesign has been under development for quite some time, but it was important for the library to roll out the new interface ahead of USF’s remote fall semester. Since March of this year, the primary way our campus community has been interacting with the library — and will continue interacting with the library for the fall semester — is online, so we prioritized updating the Ignacio interface over the summer.
Ignacio is a shared catalog that allows you to search the holdings of both Gleeson Library and Zief Law Library. Included in those holdings are books, journals, videos, and other materials in both print and electronic formats. Ignacio is also where you go to manage your library record. Logging into your library record allows you to request library materials (check out our home delivery service!), as well as check due dates and renew library materials you have borrowed.
The Ignacio redesign still performs these same functions, but with an updated interface. The new look incorporates current USF logos and colors into the visual display and utilizes buttons and icons that conform with standard web usability. It is built on a flexible layout framework that makes websites responsive to the size of the screen of the user. (We have a bit more work to do on the responsive framework, but the current mobile version of Ignacio is still available in the meantime.) One final highlight: we added a “Search Online Holdings Only” button on the homepage that allows you to perform keyword searches for materials that are available electronically.
