Happy Fall semester! This beginning of the school year is a unique moment in time and unlike any other semester Gleeson Library has seen. However, the new Instruction and Outreach department is very excited to welcome back students, faculty, and staff to the library. We have been very busy over the last 16 months, and have a brand new-to-us webpage that includes the library instruction program’s new student learning outcomes, a way to request assignment design consultation, and a blurb for your syllabus. Additionally, the library has created a suite of online tutorials for asynchronous or flipped instruction. We welcome you to contact a librarian to learn how you can incorporate these new instructional materials into your curriculum.
Going beyond the traditional one-shot database demo, the library has also been busy collaborating with faculty on creative ways of engaging students in our unique collections, like the Seed Library and Zine Library. Even though we were remote last year, we worked with a variety of instructors to engage students in research through the creation of zines. Here is some feedback from our Zine Kit program. We would love to continue these collaborations with faculty and encourage you to contact us for workshops.
Due to the time it takes to prepare tailored content for your assignments, we require two weeks of advance notice for library instruction. We are providing instruction both in person, either in your classroom or in the library, as well as online instruction. Please note your preference in the request form. We look forward to working with you this academic year!
