The Electronic Resources & Systems (ERS) department is excited to welcome back new and returning USF community members alike with an overview of accessing Gleeson Library’s e-resources: featuring those relevent to celebrating Latiné/x Heritage Month.
First things first, Gleeson’s homepage is always your starting point.
Access to all our e-resources begins here.

Databases, Encyclopedias, Journal Finder, Ignacio Library Catalog
If you’re ready to begin researching with a bit more of a directed focus on material type, directly below the Fusion search box are links to Databases, Encyclopedias, Journal Finder, and Ignacio Library Catalog.
- Databases lists all of Gleeson’s research databases available for you to search.
- Ignacio is a complete listing of all Gleeson’s books (print and ebooks), videos, and streaming media collections.
- Journal Finder allows for searching library holdings by publication title, giving online access to thousands of journals, magazines, and newspapers, as well as the latest issues and back files of titles ranging from pop culture interests to scholarly, peer-reviewed academic/scientific fields.
(Note: links to these resources are also found in a drop down menu under “Search” up above the Fusion search box.)
Latiné/x Database Subject Areas
To explore Databases by Subject Area, start on the Databases page by opening the drop-down menu “All Subjects” in order to scroll through the various subject areas databases are grouped into.

We’re highlighting three subject areas, showcasing just one database in each, but there are a host of individual databases under each of these subject areas. Also, take note of how several databases are shared between subject areas as their contents are broad and far ranging.

Discovering Latiné/x Publications

Whenever you have a specific serial publication (Academic or popular Journal or magazine and/or newspaper) in mind just type the publication’s name into the Journal Finder search box.
If you aren’t sure of the publication title try seaching by a keyword as the default setting searches for “Title Contains”, i.e. meaning titles including whatever word(s) you type in.
For instance, you might try searching for “latinx”.

Six titles come up, with the second being “Latin American and Latinx Visual Culture” published by the University of California Press.
Below the Publication title and publisher information is a link(s) to Full Text Access with the corresponding coverage dates available.

To see what other publications may be available try some other searches, perhaps “Latin American” or “Chicano”.
Have a terrific Latiné/x Heritage Month!
