Congratulations on getting through the semester, Dons!
For the past 6 years, Gleeson Library has brought you Furriends for Finals – scheduled visits with SF SPCA Animal Assisted Therapy volunteers. These have always been a highlight for us, and a wonderful way of easing the stresses of finals projects, exams, and the push towards graduation.
At the beginning of the semester, we scheduled our usual visits, and volunteers had been ready to join us this week to bring you some puppy love. As shelter-in-place orders unfolded, we wanted to make sure to still cheer you on, especially during such topsy-turvy times. Although we cannot gather around our library labyrinth for our usual pet therapy visits, we were able to bring our amazing SPCA volunteers to you virtually!
Our SPCA volunteers were thrilled to join in the fun, sending photos and personalized messages of encouragement, which you can find on our GleesonLibrary Instagram account. You can view photos of Brody & Prancer shared by their human Jane, Brixton by his human Linda, and of Benga! by her human AshleyRose. You can also find some very special videos on our GleesonLibraryUSF YouTube channel with messages from Brixton and Benga!. Don’t forget to check out these messages from Brody & Prancer, and Callie provided by SPCA coordinator Tina. In addition to these offerings, our Gleeson Library staff members also shared photos of their furry friends, and their best wishes for students wrapping up finals.
Once again, we give our thanks and a huge shout out to the SF SPCA for their continued commitment to provide this service during sheltering in place and to our volunteers, some who have been with us since the beginning of our “Furriends for Finals” dog therapy visits.
Gleeson Library is proud of you, and here to help you through this. With our dedicated staff and librarians, we are here to help support your academic success and support your overall wellness through our Jesuit value of cura personalis.
CONGRATULATIONS to the class of 2020!
