Are you staying on campus this Thanksgiving? If so, the Gleeson Library has your guide to staying in. Our guide is here to give students some fun ideas for the holiday. Staying on campus over the break is the perfect opportunity to try out some new things in the city! Our blog and Instagram guide are complete with places to get dinner and things to do over the break. During this break the library is closed on Thursday and Friday and open on Saturday 10 am-6 pm. The Atrium will be open 24/7.
Some things you can do over the break include the BARTable Hikes guide, BART’s website has a list of free fun things to do in the bay area, including ways to get around with a car, details on how to ride the cable cars, and a list of hikes to do.
Another thing you can do over the break is check out games from the library. The library has a game collection that includes board games and video games. To check out a game all you have to do is go to the front desk of the library, or Access Services and ask for the game you want. For more information check the library guide on games here Link to games.
If you’re interested in looking at other collections in the library I suggest looking at the Zine library located on the second floor or the magazine archives located on the second floor towards the back right. Both of these collections are really intreating to look through! The library also has a suggested weekend reading list of books you can check out over the holiday.
If you are missing out on having a thanksgiving meal, we have compiled a list of places you can order prepared meals from. On the Gleeson library Instagram we posted places you can order a Thanksgiving dinner from including, Bi-Rite, Andronico’s, Whole Foods, Boston Market, and Safeway. You can order dinner by going to their websites and placing an order to pick it up. If you are in need of food and are short on funds the library also has a food pantry in the lower level.
You can find all of these grocers in our Instagram Guide for convenience.
Have a happy holiday weekend!
