Sexual assault affects countless numbers of people every day, every month, every year. April is the month specifically set aside to focus on knowledge, support, and healing.
Several offices on campus, including Gleeson Library, have created displays and activities to inform, comfort, prevent. A list of these campus-wide activities can be found here.
In the library, near the Reference Desk, there is a display of books and DVDs on sexual assault awareness, prevention, and personal experience. There is also information on the Clothesline Project, a visual expression of feelings about sexual assault, and a call to action. This project was started in 1990, and continues in the present, around the world.
In addition to the items in our display, the library also subscribes to several streaming video collections that you can watch from your computer or device (once you sign in with your MyUSF user name and password). Here are two links to specific streaming video collections on sexual assault awareness, issues, prevention, healing:
If you, or someone you know has been affected by sexual assault and needs support or information, please contact our campus Counseling Center: https://myusf.usfca.edu/student-health-safety/caps or the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network’s (RAINN) online 24/7 confidential support line: https://rainn.org/get-help/national-sexual-assault-online-hotline or RAINN’s 24/7 confidential support phone line: https://rainn.org/get-help/national-sexual-assault-hotline. You do NOT have to cope alone, and it is NOT your fault.
