On your schools app bio you said we could ask you anything about USF, so that’s what i’m going to do!
1. Is there a lot of partying going on on campus? Because I am not the party type and i’m slightly worried people around me might be not as focused on their work. Then I won’t make friends. :0
1. Partying on campus. What a great question. You know, the reality is that USF is not one of those places that you see on TV where ZOMG EVERYONE RAGE!!1!! IT’S PARTY TIME! I remember going off to college and thinking that too, and it totally wasn’t like that. USF is the kind of place where everyone is, when they don’t have to be on campus, off campus, and I feel that most of the party stuff happens off campus. That’s not to say that USF is a quiet place. It can be.
I’ll be honest with you and tell you that most of the noise comes from people who are returning from off campus. Also there are some folks who just don’t know what their personal volume is and are just noisy but have to learn how to turn it down. There are rules around how noisy you can be in the halls and there are people to enforce it.
So that’s the long answer. Hope it makes sense.
You will make friends. You just have to find each other!
And 2. How are the bathrooms in the Gillson dorms…. you can give me the truth, I can handle it!
Thank you so much and i’m incredibly excited for this fall 😀
2. Bathrooms in Gillson. So let’s just say they aren’t marble/granite, spa-like, or relaxing. It’s not Ritz-Carlton, but it’s not Motel 6. They are, however, functional. If I were you, bring shower shoes (cheapie flip flops from Old Navy are perf!), a caddy to hold your gear going to and from the shower (one with holes so the water can drain and doesn’t pool in the bottom).
A quick word of advice: students typically will want to take showers in the morning, so plan on either waiting in line in the morning (or taking one SUPER early to avoid the rush) or taking one in the evening before bed.
Hope this helps, and see you very soon in August!
