#EpicStyle

A few days ago, I was walking through the cafe. I happened upon a young man with a captain’s hat on. The image so struck me (who wears a captain’s hat to school?) that I asked if I could take a picture of him. That was the birth of #epicstyle.

I was reading the reviews of who wore what at the Emmy’s, and I was less than pleased with the feedback. So and so looked frumpy and dowdy. So and so glowed. I thought they were neither nor. I found what the writer called frumpy to be quite beautiful. I found glow to be bleached out. Fashion, I suppose, is in the eye of the beholder.

So enter me and the young man in his captain’s hat. I realize that campus style could easily be about who’s wearing what trends, and you easily could have fallen out of the pages of GQ or Vogue magazine. But campus style to me is students expressing themselves in their many ways, being comfortable in their busy school days. Yes, it could be Uggs or it could be Chucks. Either way, I think #epicstyle is about students being comfortable – and it’s about students being beautiful in their own way.

I hope to make this a regular feature in my twitter feed, hopefully I won’t scare people away with my ipad wanting to take pictures of them for my #epicstyle features.

btw, here are some #epicstyle posts from the last few days:
