October 28, 2020- Essay 2 Review

Strengths

  • ethos
  • having outside supporting sources
  • After reading the comments, I am able to support my essay with good ethos and outside supporting arguments. I plan on continuing these helpful methods for my essays to continue to grow as I also improve on my weaknessʻs along the way.

Weakness

  • Do you have any specific examples from the article to show this?
  • References? Please see APA Sample Paper under Week Eight Module for examples to do this section correctly.
  • After reading the feedback within the margins, I noticed that I need to improve on major details on the structure that makes a good essay. I am able to come up with reasoning for certain details that help me improve my writing, however, it is not enough because I need evidence from an article for logos to be a strong suit in my writing. I also need to work on my referencing because in my essay it was not in the proper format.
  • I need to improve on these key details immediately because it is essential to have these for a good essay

October 26. In Class Writing

I chose to do my writing on Rubyʻs ideas from the monologue we were assigned to read last night. She did a great job mentioning the key details that the author included so the audience can understand their culture much more. She mentioned the reference to the language barrier between two families and how the two girls need to jump through hurdles just to understand each other. It also shows that their cultural differences did not stop them from learning from each other and attempt to create a strong bond. We had similarities  between being interested in the culture. Our major differences is that she focused on the granddaughters  scenarios as I focused on only the grandmotherʻs words.

Aaliyah & Jelo

  • Flags are an example of visual arguments that the textbook used(states examples). Aaliyah builds of the ideas presented in the reading. Does a great job describing the background and history of each flag
  • This is happening because one side of the political spectrum associates more with the American flag than the other side; making it a symbol for a group of people rather than representing a country. In America, our political beliefs say a lot about us and she described how people view others opinions
  •  For example, the use of certain colors and fonts can affect the interpretation and the emotion of the audience.(ethos). She reviewed the importance of each detail and how it triggers people to react.
  • From Jeloʻs writing she states,  Many people use images and visual designs to support an argument because photographs/visuals “will probably touch members of your audience more strongly than words alone could” (pg 350). which depicts the idea that nowadays people connect through things similar to screens because we use it so much in our daily lives.

October 14, 2020- Individual Post(Multimodal)

My focus is on the the instagrammer named Kate Glavan. After viewing her story, you can see that she is very educated and aware of the issues occurring in the political system today. She uses her account as an opportunity to educate others on what is going on. She also advocates for climate change. Her beliefs also integrated into her daily lifestyle choices. She lives in New York City, where she bikes, uses public transportation, runs, visits the locals farmers market, and practices a vegan diet. Her lifestyle shows that what she speaks about on social media and her updates on our daily life are completely the same and honestly used. She also promotes clean beauty makeup brands which respect the environment and show that she is an ally to conforming to regular practices today but in ways that does it sustainably. In my opinion, she is my role model on the lifestyle I expect to have in the future because of what she presents on her social media.
