This Saturday marks the start of our 2023 semester. This past weekend we had our orientation to welcome new students and introduce them to some of our professors, continuing students, and alumni. It was wonderful to see new and familiar faces back on campus and we look forward to a great semester ahead. Below is a welcome letter from our MSEM Program Director Stephanie Siehr.
To the MSEM Community,
Continuing Students. We welcome back our continuing students, who are developing their research projects on topics ranging from pollution prevention of PFAS and strategies for post-wildfire reforestation, to siting of microgrids for climate resilience and equitable energy transitions in Africa. In addition, four continuing students are beginning their management studies in the MSEM-MBA dual degree, a powerful combination of skills.
Incoming Students. This past weekend we were delighted to welcome the incoming class of 2023, a diverse group hailing from many parts of the United States as well as from Colombia, France, India, Turkey, Uganda, and the United Kingdom. Environmental interests in this group include landscape ecology, climate change mitigation, corporate sustainability, GIS, marine resources, and water management. We are excited about working with you!
Faculty. We welcome back our wonderful team of full-time and practitioner faculty. Professors Allison Luengen and Amalia Kokkinaki are both taking a well-deserved sabbatical this year. A special welcome to our new faculty: Paul Nesbit (GIS), Simon Scarpetta (ecology), and Gerhard Epke (water). Learn more about them on the MSEM blog.
We’re excited to see what our students, faculty, and alumni accomplish this semester! Be sure to stay up to date with our blog for upcoming news, features, and happenings in the MSEM program. If you’re interested in joining our program you can get all the details on our website.
