I think i’m going to do my speech on the water issue and facility issue for Gillson hall. I’m so passionate about it because I live in Gillson and it had genuinely, thoroughly put such a damper on my experience here. It is not just facilities that has been an issue, also the staff, however I think for my speech I should just focus on how management and facility quality can improve. My group members Lauren and Celeste already had extensive outlines so their examples helped me out alot.

Here is a very tentative outline:

• Intro/overall negative experience in Gillson
• Hot water, and complete water outage
  • probably need to find out what water company usf employs
• Laundry machines breaking everyday
  • maybe evidence with other colleges having water and/or laundry machine issues.
• Facilities management
• CA management
  • maybe talk about a plan for overnight emergencies
  • primary source evidence from floormates on how hostile some Gillson staff are unprovoked

• Institutional responsibilities
  • basically talking about how able and facility staff are often kicked to the curb, treated badly, and not paid nearly enough.
• Conclusion-wrapping up the speech by talking about how the solution has to be a combination of simple fixes, management improvements, and institutional changes.
