My name is Helen Saeteurn. I am a 4th year business administration student attending the University of San Francisco (USF). I am continuing my internship with CNSC for the fall semester and will specifically be working with pro bono consultants from Taproot and the Berkeley Group on various projects such as Competitive Collaborative Analysis and Social Enterprise model. About the Organization
Chinese Newcomers Service Center (CNSC) located at 777 Stockton Street #104 in San Francisco, California was founded in 1969 and is committed to providing assistance to Chinese immigrants.
The mission of CNSC is to provide underserved communities with social, economic, workforce, and business services to transform their lives.
CNSC provides multilingual services that help Chinese immigrants adapt to life in the United States so they can become self sufficient contributing members of the community. Serving more than 600,000 families with limited English, CNSC offers job training for immigrants, information to vital social services (housing, health care, education, disability benefit), free income tax preparation for low income and individuals over 60 years old, annual food distribution for low-income families, immigration and naturalization services (ESL and citizenship classes, client representation), and financial services (building credit histories, improving credit scores, lowering debt burdens).
CNSC’s client base is primary low income households in the San Francisco’s Chinatown district. CNSC is a volunteer-driven organization that partners with nonprofits, corporations, city departments, and community members to provide services to low-income families and the Chinese community.
