African American Art and Culture Complex Spring 2012

About Me:

Hello everyone, my name is Rochelle Ruiz and I am a fourth year Accounting major at the University of San Francisco, School of Management. This semester I will be continuing my internship from last fall at the African American Art and Culture Complex. As a native resident of the Bay Area I always make a goal to giving back to the community.

Introduction:

Welcome to the Spring 2012 African American Art and Culture Complex (AAACC) blog. During this internship I wish to continue my work with the AAACC and provide them with extensive knowledge I have learned as a business student at USF. I will be focusing on a few major projects throughout the internship that will aid in the continuing success of the AAACC.

About the Organization:

The African American Art and Culture Complex (AAACC) is located at 762 Fulton Street in San Francisco, California and was formed in 1989 by the city and county of San Francisco. Today, the AAACC is a vital resource in San Francisco, adding to the city’s rich culture and diversity. The AAACC not only serves local resident of San Francisco but also the entire Bay Area and tourists.

The AAACC is dedicated to community change by fostering a commitment to service and activism through Afro-centric artistic and cultural performance, exhibition, and programming. The 34,000 sq. ft. building houses an art gallery, a 203 seat theater, recording studio, library, dance studios, archives of African American history, and many other multi-purpose spaces.

The AAACC serves as a space for artists around the Bay Area and San Francisco to demonstrate their artistic abilities. As a non-profit organization, the AAACC success also depends on the support and participation of the general public.
