Tentative Spring Work Schedule

  •  Oversee all aspects of the online campaign database, including the ‘mentor’ online acquisition campaign to meet goals as outlined.  The goal of this project is to cultivate new individuals to become members of our network & donors by June 2012.
  • Assist Executive Director with the creation, editing and submission of grant proposals to targeted corporations and foundations
  • Serve as point person for fund development and some logistical aspects of the Regional Business Plan Competition to be held on 5/31/12 at USF.
  • Manage expense accounting for all NFTE Bay Area expenses including reconciliation of MasterCard account monthly

Seeking Progress:

2/4/12

During the spring semester, I am going to be working with NFTE for 25 hours a week. With this extra time, I am working to continue to develop a comprehensive understanding of all activities NFTE related. Recently, I have been focusing my efforts around increasing our fundraising activity. I work directly with Krista to edit and fine tune grant proposals before submission. As we are sending out proposals, we are sending out acknowledgments for incoming and approved funds.

This is a very busy time of the year for NFTE, as we are searching daily for vehicles that have the ability to orchestrate events and provide the programs our youth need to be successful.

This is the first installment of ‘Save the Date’ campaign we are using to market our Regional Business PLan Competition, which is going to be held on May 31st.

Grants on Grants on Grants:

Over the last two weeks, we have been working feverishly to accelerate grant proposal submission process, which has led to the submission of over 12 proposals. Considering our parallel alignment with most of the targeted foundations, multiple funding installments should be on the way (fingers crossed).

Here are a few snippets of our submissions:

“ NFTE’s entrepreneurship education offers a solution for low-income, at-risk youth to become self-sufficient and engaged in their own futures.  NFTE programs prepare young people to be responsible, enterprising individuals who become entrepreneurial thinkers by immersing them in real life learning experiences. Developing these life skills will offers NFTE students the opportunity to take calculated risks, manage the results and learn from the outcomes. Our objectives are to ensure that every NFTE student graduates high school with a plan for success, and that every advanced NFTE student gains experience creating a small business. We seek to increase students’ entrepreneurial knowledge, with the ultimate outcomes of graduation, college attendance, business ownership and/or gainful employment. “

“Currently, we plan to reach 900 students at schools where 51 percent or more of students qualify for free or reduced price lunch.  Our Bay Area programs are helping to break the destructive cycle of poverty that systematically denies at-risk youth opportunities for pursuing the dreams and goals that mark a healthy transition to adulthood. Without a vision to pursue, at-risk youth are left with little reason to invest in education, in their futures, and in their own development.  Our award-winning curriculum uses ownership concepts as a tool to help young people discover their interests and talents, and harness them as a comparative advantage to be capitalized within the marketplace. “

“ By connecting academics to real life, NFTE helps young people see the relevance of school and motivates them to make their first important managerial decision: to graduate.  And for those students who are serious about entrepreneurship, NFTE provides additional training and services to foster small business creation.  In these ways, NFTE provides an answer to both the drop-out crisis and the need for small businesses to fuel our economy and renew our communities.”
