After reading Haoyuan’s respones. She mainly explained the author’s analysis of the visual argument. She think visual rhetoric reinforces the visuals that catch and hold our attention, also using images to establish ethos will help audiences understand how images boost credibility and authority. In the second paragraph, she thinks the visual argument is much better than the printed form of argument.
Compared with my response, Haoyuan’s extra description of the visual argument. But our interpretation of the visual argument is almost the same. After comparing my responds with hers, I found that I did not focus on the difference between the old version of the text argument and the modern visual argument.

Breakout room group work:
In the video, the lecturer made further explanations on visual rhetoric and exemplified the main points with an advertisement of ketchup conducted by Heinz. In the advertisement, an image of tomatoes piled up into the shape of a bottle of ketchup was presented with words like “No one grows ketchup like Heinz” to deliver a message that the product is natural and possibly beneficial for your health.
By looking at the picture, it is not difficult to find that the left side of the whole poster is dominated by a huge bottle of tomato sauce. And this bottle of ketchup is made up of slices of fresh tomatoes. At the same time, the tomato bottle is also marked with the name of the ketchup manufacturer.
It appeals to the audience that how natural the ketchup is. First and foremost, the colour of this commercial is red. In addition, the slogan is white. The audience has shrunk significantly. It will tell customers about the product’s ingredients and components in a clear way. That is why the commercial works so well.
