From the beginning of classic “Superman” back in 1978 to the climax of the “Avengers”’s union. the American superhero movies have now reached its peak. As far as the market expansion, superhero movies are undoubtedly the main force of the current Hollywood blockbuster. Especially since the year of 2010, there are at least five superhero movies would be screened every year. With the development of the modern movie-making techniques, moviemakers now can make many tricks to present superheroes’ powers through the blue screen.Marvel Comic and DC Comic have grown from filming rookies to the big studios. Years of superhero movie development had caused cultural interpretation of superheroes’ social responsibility and ideology. However, the messages we received from this kind of movies are not always positive and correct. The audiences have been misdirected about the controversial issue of gender equality.
“Wonder Woman” is an exception. It is obvious from the movie title, the main character is a woman which is very seldom. There is few superhero movie about a woman who is heroic and positive. The plot is based on DC Comics of the story set during World War I.
Diana Prince is the Amazon princess who is also half man and half god. She lived in Paradise Island where only women are allowed to live. She was brought life by the king of gods Zeus, so she is the only baby on that island in over 500 years. They were living peacefully for hundred years. Until one day, a fighter plane crashed into the sea near Paradise Island. Diana saved the pilot named Steve and knew that that was a war going on on the outside world. However, her mother was not interested in “the war that can stop all the war.” Diana believes that this war must be manipulated by the God of War Ares, and she think is her responsibility and destiny to save the world. Therefore she decided to go with Steve to the war front. Then, she experienced the malicious world and learned that this war was not control by human themselves. At the same time, she felt the kindness in human and decided to fight for them after all. Finally, she defeated Ares and been remembered as Wonder woman.
