1995 – Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City)

From the architecture, to the hustle and bustle everywhere, to the wild taxi rides, to an agenda in Spanish, it was clear that we were not in Kansas any more. Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City hosted the 10th annual meeting where we had the opportunity to see the world of technology from a different cultural perspective, to share with and learn from our Latin American colleagues, and to discover that all of us were facing the same or very similar problems and challenges, just in different languages.

Attendees represented 12 AJCU schools and 14 AUSJAL schools. Sessions were presented in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, with simultaneous translation. Padre Theodoro Peters, S.J., president of AUSJAL, addressed the conference, emphasizing the need for more collaboration between professionals and specialists working in Jesuit institutions worldwide to support the Ignatian vision of education.  He urged the attendees to match our words with new action. At sessions and presentations, there was considerable discussion on Internet and its services, problems about access, and control of content.
