To the University Community,
The University Archives of the Gleeson Library | Geschke Center is requesting your assistance and collaboration in helping us to document the Black Lives Matter movement as experienced by USF students, faculty, staff, administration, and community partners. We wish to document this historic uprising against racism, violence, and injustice by collecting signs, banners, flyers, handbills, photographs, printed matter, or electronic records you may wish to donate. By sharing items from your participation in BLM protests, demonstrations, and other expressions of solidarity, you will help us to ensure that a part of USF’s voice in this movement is preserved in University Archives. We are committed to the ethical archiving of social movements with the protection and safety of Black lives at the center of our efforts, as well as providing access to our collections for future generations of students, scholars, and researchers.
Documenting this important part of our community’s ongoing fight for social justice is vital to USF’s mission and core values. Please join us in this effort and help us all better understand how these materials speak to our history, our present moment, and our commitment to each other as we strive to make a more just world. By collecting your items from the BLM movement, we will continue to build upon the efforts within the library to bring visibility to the Black experience at USF, like that found in the records of the Black Student Union and Black Activism and Education collections.
If you have materials you wish to donate, please complete this form and/or contact University Archivist Annie Reid, who will be able to assist you.
Thank you for your consideration and support of this effort.
