Lab 7: Independent Field Excursion and Species Account

Date: March 22, 2020

Location: 37°13’16.5″N 121°58’55.3″W

Description of site:

    • The portion that I walked along is sandwiched between highway 17 and Los Gatos Creek.
    • Wooded hillside and valley floor

Observed species:

One detailed species account:

    • a cluster of small blue butterflies (saw about 4)
    • maybe 2 inches large or so
    • the butterflies were hovering around in a group around a large pipe along the trail

Narrative: Going on a hike with my family was really nice but also a bit alarming. There were many other families and individuals on the trail, much more than normal. I’m guessing everyone is getting a bit of cabin fever from staying inside the entire week but it made staying 6 feet apart a bit challenging.
