The article by Tim Eichenberg (2013), titled “The challenges of adapting to climate change in San Francisco Bay”, shows how an agency that tries to preserve and improve the responsible use of the bay struggle with jurisdiction and authority. “(..) expanding the jurisdiction and authority of an agency like BCDC is a difficult and perhaps politically infeasible proposition because the agency is located in an urban bay and estuary with nine counties and fifty- five local government jurisdictions likely to vigorously resist relinquishing local control over shoreline develop” (p. 397). This quote describes that it’s non-viable to give more power and authority to an agency that tries to conserve the bay, because of where it’s located.

August 31 freewritting

In May of 2019, I went to Peru for a family vacation and we visited a lot of different places. My favorite experience was going to Machu Picchu, it was unbelievable seeing the city, how all those rocks were placed on such high altitude. Another unbelievable experience was climbing the Huayna Picchu mountain, the view from the top of the mountain was breathtaking and you could see Machu Picchu very clearly, I had a cold so I couldn’t really breath and if you add the altitude of the mountain, it was very challenging for me.

Outline of the essay:

  • Intro: In May of 2019, I went to Peru with my family for a vacation, and we visited Cuzco and Lima.
  • Body: In each city, we visited different places, like the Sacred Valley and Saqsaywaman. My favorite places were Machu Picchu and climbing the Huayna Picchu Mountain./ (what I liked about each place).
  • Conclusion: reflect on the challenge

Meaning of name

My name, Olivia, originally derived from the Latin word oliva meaning olive or olive tree, it also means “kind one”. It was given to me because my parents wanted a name that was pronounced the same in English and in Spanish. I have never felt ashamed of my name, or ever changed it
