Fall 2023: Community Building Highlights

This fall, the Center for Asia Pacific Studies offered a variety of community-building activities for USF students interested in learning more about–and sharing their knowledge of–the Asia Pacific. See below for video highlights showcasing all the fun we had together!

We began the semester with our Fall Welcome! Kenny Endo came to our campus for a heart-pounding Taiko performance.

Next, of course, we had to have our fall Boba Run, followed by a leisurely walk back to campus to get to know each other.

Our next trip was to the Asian Art Museum to see their special exhibit Murakami: Monsterized! which amazed the group with the artist’s creativity. After the exhibit, we took the students out for pastries and an opportunity to relax and chat.

We also hosted a screening of the award-winning film, Past Lives. Nora and Hae Sung, two deeply connected childhood friends, are wrest apart after Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea. Two decades later, they are reunited in New York for one fateful week as they confront notions of destiny, love, and the choices that make a life, in this heartrending modern romance. People loved watching the movie together and enjoyed the fresh popcorn and snacks.

Finally, our last event of the semester was our study session – Cocoa and Cram! We created a casual space for students to study together while enjoying hot chocolate, doughnuts, and Asian snacks.

A big thank you to all the students who attended our events this semester! We hope to see you again in the new year!
