In late February, Vice Provost Mary Wardell, DECO Program Manager Ria DasGupta, and ASUSF President Shaya Kara were invited by Georgetown University’s Center for Social Justice to lead a workshop for students, staff, and faculty on the topic of Transformative Allyship. A concept rooted in Jesuit values, transformative allyship aims to work past fear to discuss the unique roadblocks and challenges to create a campus climate that is cognizant of history, positionality, and social identity so that we may offer new possibilities for disrupting entrenched systems of power.
