Ocean of Air

Reading Rendell’s An Ocean of Air made me feel physically exhausted. The amount of effort, passion, and determination it takes for a team to complete the race is incredible. A part that I thought was very interesting was when Rendell talked about off duty teammates would ride right behind the bicyclist and make sure they stayed hydrated. It was very nice to read because you know when riding that you have teammates right behind you. I played soccer, basketball, and softball all throughout high school so I am very use to working as a team. Sacrifice is particularly essential in soccer because I played center mid which is the line that stops the other team’s defense to transfer forward. By sprinting back and getting behind the ball I was able to save my teammates energy by stopping the other team before everyone had to run back.
