Post 6

Unfortunately I was only in class for about an hour for class 6, but when I was there we worked on body awareness. It is very normal for people who are new to public speaking to have some awkwardness with their posture when they are giving a speech. Some of then negative body movements may include pacing back and forth, having legs crossed, hanging hands awkwardly by your side, etc. We worked on a type of meditation that allowed us to be aware of our bodies including bones and muscles. I think this is very beneficial because I tend to cross my legs without really knowing that I am doing it. It is beneficial to be conscious of this behavior when giving a speech because it could distract the audience from paying attention to what you are saying. The relationship between physical and verbal unison is essential for a productive and persuasive speech.
