Sophia Howard’s short film, Song of The Pretty Bird, is a visual exploration of the resonance evoked from Shay Alexi Stewart’s poem “Song of The Pretty Bird”. In her short film, Howard investigates the tension between our culture’s obsession and contempt for women’s sexuality, examining the subsequent impact on individual female identity. An intimate examination of the mirrors women see themselves through, Howard’s film seeks to illuminate the struggle for multi-dimensionality many women experience.
