My most memorable bicycle/the bicycle I can write most about is my fixed geared bicycle. I got it when I was in sixth grade, and begged for it… desperately. I finally managed to get it when I persuaded my step-dad to buy it for me for Christmas, on the condition that he wouldn’t have to buy me another present for two years. I was ecstatic when we agreed upon this deal; I couldn’t believe I was actually going to get a fixie. I even remember walking into the bicycle shop (LA Brakeless) and being greeted by a plethora of colored and beautifully polished parts. I remember everything being so expensive, that I had to ask where I could find something a little more reasonable. I remember wishing I could have picked out all the parts, and customized it from scratch. I was young but still knew that wasn’t going to happen. So, I picked out a modest and simple, yet classy fixie. I was, however, able to choose the grips I wanted, which was more than enough for me at the time. I chose either white or blue grips, I can’t say for sure. I treated that thing like my baby; I didn’t want anyone touching it once we left the shop. It’s like when you get a new phone and eat at a greasy restaurant, you don’t want to touch your phone until your hands are pristine again.

This is such a great post — really vivid description. It makes me want to go out and get a fixie again.
