Staff Spotlight: Amanda Lorenzen – SONHP Program Administrator

Amanda

Amanda Lorenzen, Program Administrator for SONHP at the Sacramento Campus, has been an amazing addition to the Sacramento Campus since the first day she stepped on scene! We asked Amanda to tell us a little more about herself.

Tell us about yourself and how you came to this position?

There’s a common joke among USF’ers that USF stands for “You stay forever” and in my case, that’s true! I am a “Double Don,” having graduated from USF with both my bachelor’s in Art History and Arts Management in 2012 and my master’s in Organization and Leadership in 2016. From 2013-2017, I also worked for the Division of Student Life at the University’s Hilltop campus. Mid-2017, my husband and I moved to the Sacramento area and I instantly found myself back at USF – this time working as the Program Administrator for the School of Nursing and Health Professions!

What is the most exciting part of your job?

I love working with and serving students – therefore, the most exciting part of my day is seeing all of our students on campus learning and thriving!

What inspires you and why?

What inspires me most, are our nursing students! I’m inspired by their energy and passion to enter such a rewarding field. During my first week in this position, I attended the Pinning Ceremony for the BSN/VANAP Cohort 2, and found myself tearing up in admiration for all the hard work that goes into this major!

What advice would you like to give to students?

Talk to your faculty and staff! Ask for help! College – and nursing school in particular – takes a village! We are here to support you!

What is a little known fact about you?

I’m a certified yoga teacher! Interested in lunch-time yoga? Let me know!

Anything else you would like to share?

I’m very excited to meet everyone and support you through your nursing school journey and throughout your time with USF in whatever way I can. Swing by the Sim/Skills Lab to introduce yourself!
