Ethos: Selina Leem begins her ted talk with a poem. She continues by informing the audience when she was 18 she was at the Climate Change Conference which validates her authority when speaking about climate change. She tells the audience how she is from the Marshall islands and speaks about how climate change affects her in a different way as she is an islander who’s home is in danger because of climate change. By informing the audience of her past as a climate activist and as an islander, her words have more impact as she is more reliable as a speaker.

Pathos: Selina Leem exhibits pathos in her speech by drawing the attention on how the climate crisis had brought danger the people of Marshall Islands. She explains how sea levels have increased, floods, droughts, and erosion are issues her people have encountered due to climate change. She draws sympathy from the audience by explaning more into detail how vegetation has gone bad and their home is slowly being taken from them because of the climate crisis.

Logos: Selina Leem explains climate change causing sea levels to rise and islands to break apart.and earth’s climate system will be invariably damaged. However, human activities, especially since the industrial revolution are the main cause of climate change characterized by global warming. She speaks with such logical reasoning to make the audience pay attention to this topic.
