For this reading response post, I selected an interview with Dr. Doug Bauer of UCSF performed by the Performance Condition newsletter.
This interview is on the subject of Dr. Bauer’s research in the correlation between low bone density and cycling. What I like about this interview is that Dr. Bauer is discussing research he did into a matter that he cares about: cycling. Meeting with Dr. Bauer at UCSF definitely helped me understand his drive behind studying bone density and osteoporosis in cyclists because he too is a cyclist and therefore is spearheading research into a subject that affects him. I think that Dr. Bauer’s research on osteoporosis is also a great example of using your skills set or job to create change in the world that you can see, something that I hope to complete someday.
