This research paper will explore the power of social media for professional communication by using a classification scheme of social media as a tool to analyze and critique the strength of social media when use as a tool for communication in the workplace under the digital media and technologies context.  This is to gain a better understanding on the characteristics of the broad categories of each medium in perspective and their possible use as a part of professional communication.  However, some more theories may be added later to the final paper where applicable and relevant.

The community can make me feel like home is another idea of placemaking (Jayewardene, 2016, p. 119).  When I studied for a Master degree in the U.K., I met Thai communities who grouped together to establish a Thai temple in Leeds city.  They conducted many Thai cultural events there and they will bring Thai foods to share.  Food is one of the key ideas that can make you feel like home in a new city.

The writing style in the U.S. context is significantly different from the U.K. Context. I learned the writing in my undergraduate was  American style.  So when I went to study in the U.K., I have to adjust myself to fit the culture of U.K. academic circumstance.  Vocabulary and  spelling are the examples such as organisation and organization, chips and fries, colour and color, lift and elevator.

Chommanart is Thai name, may be hard to spelling for English native speaker.  The meaning of my name is a kind of flower that has a good smelling, like the rice cooking.  The monk in Thailand gave me this name because most of Thai people is Buddhist and it’s Thai culture setting up the name through the birthday details.

However, I used google translate to search the meaning my name in English, it’s so funny that is totally different from the original meaning.  The meaning from google is Lounger.

I have friends who changed the name, they changed their name because of the fortune as the main reason.  The fortune teller said that there’s some alphabets (Thai name) that made you unlucky or unhappy.

With regard to these three articles (Shorter, Bunn, and Stephens-Davidowitz), I love Bunn’s article which is the most intriguing because he said about the tips how to read well and become a good writer. That can apply to my graduate study in USF.
