I did not have my evidence perfectly memorized because it included a lot of statistics that were difficult to retain. So, this caused me to keep looking back at my paper, which took away valuable time which could have otherwise been used to make eye contact. It is not all that bad though, since I’m confident about the credibility of the information I gathered and presented. And eye contact is often strategically utilized as a way to act like you know what you’re saying. My lack of eye contact and preoccupation with staring at my paper caused me to neglect my PowerPoint, specifically, changing them to the wrong slide at the wrong time. I normally take pride in my multi-tasking skills, but this obviously wasn’t my finest moment. If you have any advice, send it over my way. I’m also open to hear any suggestions y’all have on sounding passionate. I wouldn’t say my speech or the tone of my voice was boring but there is definitely room for improvement. It seemed even harder to show interest for this speech, in my opinion. This may have to do with the fact that it focused on evidence, in turn, involving a lot of numbers.
