Three SONHP Students McGrath Scholars Presented their Capstone Project

The McGrath Scholars Program was created to develop critically aware and goal-oriented system thinkers who are motivated to change their communities for the common good. This program blends the theory and practice of effective leadership with the Jesuit tradition of principled leadership in service to others. In a climate of inquiry and respect for diverse ideas and backgrounds, as well as the use of experiential exercises, simulations, dialogue, and reflection, students explore and enhance their own self-awareness and leadership skills. This personal learning is applied at the individual as well as the team level.

The purpose of the McGrath Scholars Capstone Project is to apply class learning to a real-world social issue, problem, or innovative project. Using the Design Thinking Process, the project must directly benefit an organization or group of people and include a plan for tangible outcomes that benefit the common good. Scholars can also create a new organization to fill a need that their team deems beneficial to our city, country, or society.
