2.The cause of smog

3.Some solutions

I watched a speech by Jake Ma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZfp0ZUsBdM

He was keeping eye contact with the audience from left to right. not just one single group in the middle. Even though he is not a native English speaker, his voice is full of confidence and changes his tone depending on the situation. He did not move a lot but his gesture makes his audience easy to follow his point.

Something I find is the same within Aditya’s response is that Dick Gregory living in an environment was challenging. After the Thursday, it even worse, he lived in “shame” in his life for many years and can’t get rid of it.
There is a good perspective that Aditya said that is different from me. Dick wants to donate money for improving and showing his worth to his class. What I thought is he wants to get the feeling that he has a daddy.

For the most significant historical events that have shaped the future of China, the 1911 Revolution (Xinhai Revolution) must be on the list. Basically, the 1911 Revolution overthrew China’s last imperial dynasty.

I think the Chinese dynasty period is very dark. The emperor decides everything no one can oppose it. From my point of view, I think this event is the first step for China to begin to move towards a modern and civilized country. The Qing Dynasty was a dynasty where the Manchu was the emperor.

Because of this, the Manchus stipulated that all Chinese should be like it. The earliest image of the Chinese with long braids was the result of Manchu’s implementation. If you don’t have this hairstyle, you will be killed.

This event allowed everyone to understand what democracy and republic are. He lifted all restrictions that restricted freedom, such as men without braids and girls without foot binding. All ethnic groups in China are equal in law. He left a very important point in Chinese history。

___NO__Economic competition is at the basis of many of the world’s problems (Ellis, 2020, p.23). Only by seeing ourselves as a single family without the separation of national boundaries can world tensions begin to be eased.
___NO__Ellis (Ellis, 2011, p.23) argues that world problems are caused by overpopulation and that the only possible solution is an enforced tax on families who have more than one child
Hall, Jonathan V., W. E. Frayer, and Bill O. Wilen. Status of Alaska Wetlands. 4 Nov. 1997. Web. 12 Mar. 2011.
Alaskan wetlands (Hall,  Frayer, Wilen, 1997) offer advantages such as erosion and flood control, homes and food for wildlife, and natural beauty and products for humans’ benefit.
Because they are not readily influenced, assertive people gain respect from others, and they experience success in guiding their own lives, nurturing good relationships, and achieving their goals (Hargie, Saunders, Dickson, 2000, p. 271).

A Popular Mechanics article notes that University of Georgia researchers have found a new use for worn tires: instead of having them on trees as swings, they’re using them as mulch (2000).

First, I read the response from Jasper. We both think making sure to understand the purpose of the arguments is necessary and it leads us to connect with the audience. Jasper gives a very good example of it compared to just talk about food insecurity for people with talks about the solution to food insecurity. Two topic looks the same but they have a different focus, which I think is a good example to explain.

Then I read the response from Meijing. for the second article, we may have a different perspective. For me, I’m focusing on how to persuade the audience to form me directly like I will explain everything to persuade them. But Meijing focuses on the audience, like understanding audiences’ position to prepare presentations will be more effective. In addition, we both think to be prepared to answer and give a solution to the obstacles or barriers is important to convince our audience.

In the breakout room, I discussed with Feng Lin and Meijing Zhao.

After reading Feng’s response, I feel like that we have some experience with the power of silence of a speech. When someone felt bored or slept in class, the teacher would stop talking and look at those students with an expressionless face. In general, When someone gives a speech,   he/she suddenly stops talking. By using this strategy, it will get attention and address the important part of the speech.

In addition, Feng and I both think Heritage Language loss in Second Generation East Asian and The Power of Silence is the two most effective presentation of the reading.
