Today’s “Student Shout-Out” goes to the Diamond Dons baseball team who defeated Gonzaga last Sunday to win the WCC Championship! Congratulations to the entire team and all of the coaches!
As you know, we have three Communication Studies majors on the team that we have been cheering for all season: #15 Sean Burns, #18 Jonathan Abramson, and #28 Adam Clear. Jonathan’s a right-handed pitcher and he started the title game, throwing for three innings, striking out two players! Adam has some of the best stats on the team, and he saw action in the game, too. You can read a recap of his key plays and those of the other players here:

The three game series at Gonzaga this past weekend decided the WCC champions. The Dons took the first game, winning 4-2, the Zags took the second game 7-5, and the Dons led the whole game way in game three, winning 4-2! I was following the scores on my phone on Sunday, during the title game, and scared everyone in the restaurant I was eating in when I refreshed the scores on my phone and shouted in despair because I thought the Dons lost (I was accidentally looking at the previous day’s score when Gonzaga won). Oops. I knew that couldn’t be right!

The Dons take on #1 seed UCLA in Los Angeles this Friday! Congratulations to the entire team and GO DONS!!!
Woo! Go Dons!
Hope to see you soon Professor Doohan
