Dons’ Doings: 5th Annual Communication Studies Career Night, 11/3!

The question many of us in Communication Studies frequently hear is: “What can I do with a Communication Studies degree?” Well, that question will be answered this Thursday! Oh yes. It will.

I’m excited that this coming Thursday, November 3rd, at 6:30-8:00 pm in the Maier Room of Fromm Hall, we will be welcoming back to campus six of our recent Communication Studies graduates for our 5th Annual Communication Studies Career Night!

Each fall we invite a group of alums who graduated within the last two years to come back to campus to talk with our current students about life after graduation and finding a job. If you have ever asked “What can I do with a Communication Studies degree?” you need to come to Career Night! Our alums will be talking about how they use their COMS degree in their work and sharing advice based on their experiences. Here is our line up for this year’s Career Night (drum roll please…):

2011 graduate Emma Gallagher works as an Assistant Brand/PR Manager at R/West:

'11 grad Emma G!

2011 graduate Jonathan Abramson works at tout.com:

2010 graduate Maddy Bohannon works as 2nd grade Associate Teacher at Mission Dolores Academy:

'10 grad Maddy B!

2010 graduate Matthew MacLean works as an Associate Account Manger at Acxiom Corporation:

2011 graduate Sarah Hirsch works as an Office Manager at Square Inc.:

2011 grad Natalie Baryla works as an Associate Training Program Manager at Yammer Inc.:

As you can see, we have a great group of alums returning to campus to talk with our current students! And they each represent a different type of job that you can get with a Communication Studies degree! Each of our panelists will be talking about their position and the job hunt and then we will have plenty of time for a Q&A. You can then network with our alums over some light refreshments!

We hope to see you all there at our 5th Annual Career Night!

Our Career Night is sponsored by the Department of Communication Studies and Lambda Pi Eta.
