Student Shout-Out: Taylor, Alyssa, Amy, Mia, and the Delta Zeta Sisters

Today’s “Student Shout-Out” focuses on the Delta Zeta sorority on campus, which counts four of our Communication Studies majors as members: Taylor Morton (Philanthropy Co-Chair), Alyssa Micciche (Academics Chair), Mia Barklind (Vice President of Membership), and Amy Constable.  The Delta Zeta sisters focus their service throughout the year on supporting the hearing and speech impaired and locally they work with the Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California.

This upcoming Friday February 18th, the Center is holding a Silent Auction and Benefit Gala, which the Delta Zeta sisters will be volunteering at.  Here’s what Taylor says about the event: “It benefits the Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California whose mission statement is ‘To provide life-long professional services to support all people with hearing or communication challenges in achieving their goals.’  Some different things that the center offers is toddler and pre-k schooling as well as adult hearing testing and hearing aid services.  This center is non-profit and is run by only 32 people and people will come into the city just to take advantage of the Center’s services.  For example, I met a child whose family moved here from Louisiana just so he could attend the school at the center.  Delta Zetas teeter-totterathon every Spring directly supports the Hearing and Speech Center and I personally want to help in any way I can because they do some amazing things for people and just need help with support and funding.”

If you are interested in supporting this worthy cause, here are the details:

  • Friday, February 18th at 7:00 pm
