Today’s edition of the “Graduating Student Chronicles” comes from senior Communication Studies major Nick Santeramo, who kindly agreed to document his final semester as an undergrad for us here on the blog. Here is Nick’s “Chapter 1.”
“Walking into class on the first day of my last semester at USF was like a huge slap in the face. Other than being in shock that I actually made it, and in four years at that, the first day was a wake up call to the fact that four months from now I will be walking down the church aisle to get my degree and stepping out into the untested waters of the corporate world.
I remember my first day of college like it was yesterday, and it feels like yesterday. Time flies!! When I was a Freshman I took all the time I still had left at USF for granted and I wish I wouldn’t have. I can’t stress it enough, don’t rush your time here. Senior year comes fast enough as it is, trust me. I still remember how much of a nervous wreck I was walking into my first class here, the nervousness dies off almost instantly though and then it hits you that ‘Wow, I’m in college, peace out highschool.’ It was funny walking into class last week and seeing most of the same faces that I’ve seen throughout the years here; everybody was stoked to be on the last leg of college and the room was vibrant. (Much different than freshman year first classes).
To all first year students out there: Live in the moment and truly cherish the time you guys have here (in college). You have absolutely no idea how fast the time will fly by and before you know it you’ll be in my shoes. Have fun and enjoy the fact that you’re residing in one of the most sought after places to live in the world, and I mean San Francisco…not the dorms.”
Thanks, Nick, for sharing your experiences! You’ll hear more words of wisdom from Nick and Addysen at midsemester. Up next: The New Student Chronicles!
